The Apple watch is also a device that allows users to make payments without having to use credit cards. It can measure heart rate and it communicates with the user and his or her iPhone. The Apple Watch is made in two sizes and three collections. Each of them has different package. The Sport comes in a long rectangular box. The Watch comes in a white square box with a white plastic rounded square container. And the Edition comes in a darker, more elaborate version of the same. The 38mm Apple Watch has a display size of 340 by 272 pixels. The 42mm Apple Watch has a display size of 390 by 312 pixels. The display is from Retina-OLED (organic light-emitting diodes), which is first for Apple. There are two physical buttons for the control on the side: a button and a digital crown with which the user can zoom the screen or look for apps. Additionally, there is a way to use the voice navigation [[Apple Siri|Siri]], known from the iPhone. To answer the call one uses a built-in speaker and microphone. The apps are the same like as for the iPhone. Responses for email or messages can be faster than from the phone. The adjustment of the notification for any apps is by user discretion. Apple Watch measures all types of movement, such as walking or taking the stairs. It even keeps track of when person stands up and encourages the user to keep moving. Charging is similar to the MacBook Air or Macbook Pro. Apple set battery life expectations at up to 48 hours of time display, 6.5 hours of audio playback, 6.5 hours of workout monitoring, and three hours of talk time. A power reserve mode, designed to last up to 72 hours shuts down almost all processes except those required to keep and display time. The Watch requires about 2,5 hours, for charging and it is is waterproof.<ref name="ref7"/>

The Watch checks three things: stand, exercise and move. If the user is sitting for a long time, the Watch points out the need to stand up and walk around. The move function accounts for how many calories have been burnt during the day. The exercise function watches one's daily activity like running, yoga, or fast walking, with the goal of doing some kind of exercise for 30 minutes a day. This helps the user keep track of his or her daily workout.<ref name="ref7"/> It has been proven by the research company Wristly that Apple Watch users are taking up more sport and making healthier choices. In addition to providing faster communication, the Apple Watch also offers its users the possibility to concentrate on fitness and well-being. The Apple Watch can have an effect on health, exercise, and lifestyle. Many responses indicate that the Watch is helping many people on their journeys for better health. Over 78% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that since getting the Watch, they were more aware of their overall health. In addition, many of them have already made changes, with 78% of them agreeing or strongly agreeing that they have more physical activity, 67% that they walk more, 57% that they exercise more, and 59% that they make better overall health choices.<ref name="ref21">DESARNAUTS, B. One of the most concerning issues for Apple is its alleged connection with illegal mineral resources. According to an article released by the company Apple in February 2015, their mineral resources are legal.<ref name="ref14">Apple Inc [online]. 2015, 15 December. Available online at: http://images.apple.com/euro/supplier-responsibility/b/generic/pdf/Conflict_Minerals_Report.pdf</ref> These minerals used in the manufacture of Apple include tin, used in circuit boards; tungsten, found in light bulbs; tantalum used to regulate the flow of electricity; and gold, often used as an electrical conductor. The company had to prove that the minerals did not come from the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo or Central Africa.<ref name="ref15">HERN, A. Other significant ethical issues concern problems for other companies. Apple Watch offers the possibility to function as credit cards in retail stores. If this trend becomes widespread, there could be impact on the companies who manufacture plastic bank cards. These two ethical issues may apply to any other company, but because Apple is such a strong brand, its impact is potentially much more devastating on its competition than in other cases.

Apple Watch offers proliferation of wellness and healthy apps, which unfortunately may have negative impact. People can become narcissistic and too self-involved, and sometimes even hypochondriac. It could appear the same addicted problem to be still online as well as with a cell phone. Sherry Turkle describes these issues in her book “Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other”, where she is saying:”that the successful are always connected.<ref name="ref8">Turkle, S.  Always On (chap.8, The new state of the Self,s. 163) (Retrieved December 05 2015)</ref>  Apple Watch could be the way how to have everything on the hand. Even we will hide the cell phone into the bag, the Watch is connected to the phone, so if we will get the email or somebody will call us, we will see and hear it immediately. But the ethical issues were not identified for now. Apple Watch brings good assumptions how to restrict use of games and other social applications on the phone because on the Watch you will use only the necessary applications due to the size of the screen.

The Apple Watch is the first wearable device developed by Apple Inc. The project began in the year 2011, and the Apple Watch was launched on April 24, 2015. Pre-orders were available beginning April 10, 2015.The Apple Watch comes in two sizes-38 mm and 42 mm-and in three collections-the aluminium Apple Watch Sport, the stainless steel Apple Watch, and the gold Apple Watch Edition. The Apple Watch Sport is available in twelve models, and the price ranges between 349 USD and 399 USD.[4] Apple Watches are available in twenty models, and the price ranges from 549 USD to 1,099 USD.[3] Apple Watches Edition is available in eight models, which are the most expensive; prices range between 10,000 USD to 17,000 USD[5]. Watches are made from a variety of distinctive materials, and the bands are changeable. The Watch can be wirelessly connected from an iPhone 5 up to an iPhone 6 s. The Watch is not only a watch. It is a device that helps users to be always connected with their friends and up to date with their work.[6]

Main Characteristics

The Apple watch is also a device that allows users to make payments without having to use credit cards. It can measure heart rate and it communicates with the user and his or her iPhone. The Apple Watch is made in two sizes and three collections. Each of them has different package. The Sport comes in a long rectangular box. The Watch comes in a white square box with a white plastic rounded square container. And the Edition comes in a darker, more elaborate version of the same. Regardless of the collection, all include a watch case, a paired band, a USB cable with a magnetic charger on the end, and an iPhone-style AC adapter.[7]

Apple is using three different materials for the cases: 7000-Series aluminium for the Sport, 316L stainless steel for the Watch, and 18-karat gold for the Edition. Ihe Edition is available in silver and anodized space gray, silver and diamond, and yellow and rose gold respectively. The screens are Ion-X (ion exchange) glass for the Sport and sapphire for the Watch and Edition. The backs are a composite material for the Sport with hard-coated optical polymer sensor lenses, and zirconia ceramics for the Watch and Edition, with sapphire lenses. A large number of bands are available.

Additionally, there is a way to use the voice navigation Siri, known from the iPhone. The Watch requires about 2,5 hours, for charging and it is is waterproof.[7]

Purpose

The Apple Watch is a first personal wearable device that delivers important information when people need it. It helps to perform everyday tasks easily, and it offers the possibility to be connected with people in no time. The Apple Watch can facilitate communication and serves as a miniature substitution for one's phone.[8]

Enhancement/Therapy/Treatment

The Watch checks three things: stand, exercise and move. If the user is sitting for a long time, the Watch points out the need to stand up and walk around. The move function accounts for how many calories have been burnt during the day. The exercise function watches one's daily activity like running, yoga, or fast walking, with the goal of doing some kind of exercise for 30 minutes a day. This helps the user keep track of his or her daily workout.[7] It has been proven by the research company Wristly that Apple Watch users are taking up more sport and making healthier choices. In addition, many of them have already made changes, with 78% of them agreeing or strongly agreeing that they have more physical activity, 67% that they walk more, 57% that they exercise more, and 59% that they make better overall health choices.[14]

Ethical Issues

One of the most concerning issues for Apple is its alleged connection with illegal mineral resources. According to an article released by the company Apple in February 2015, their mineral resources are legal.[15] These minerals used in the manufacture of Apple include tin, used in circuit boards; tungsten, found in light bulbs; tantalum used to regulate the flow of electricity; and gold, often used as an electrical conductor. The company had to prove that the minerals did not come from the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo or Central Africa.[16] In February 2015, the company promised to do so.[15]

Other significant ethical issues concern problems for other companies. At the launch of the Apple Watch other companies may have had plans to start their own smart watch production; however, due to Apple’s realized product their plans could not come to fruition and they lost money.[17]

In such cases people stop focusing on the outside world and on social contacts and instead focus on their electronic devices.[18]

Upon the creation of an Apple ID, Apple collects information after such as phone number, email address, contact preferences, and credit card information, which they claim to use for various reasons. The amount of information given depends on the user; however, the less information that is provided, the more difficult that product support may be in the case of troubleshooting.[19]

Rash caused by Apple Watch

Health Risks

Wearing Apple Watch may cause skin rash in people who are sensitive to materials used in bands that contain traces of nickel and methacrylates.[20] Apple advises users to wear the watch in a way that the users feel is comfortable. The company warns that tightly worn watches could cause irritation, and loosely worn watches could cause skin damage.[21]

Public & Media Impact and Presentation

Apple demonstrated new features of Apple Watch in March 2015 during a presentation in San Francisco. Journalists, bloggers, and Apple employees were eagerly awaiting Apple CEO Timothy D. Cook to announce the new Apple Watch.[22]

After the launch, many opinions were raised. Farhad Manjoo wrote in The New York Times about his first three days with the Apple Watch. However, after he overcame the first difficulties he described how he fell in love with the product.[23] Vanessa Friedman has had a different experience. In an article from The New York Times, she described why she would return her Apple Watch. One of the many reasons why she did not like it was that she could not talk to the watch worn on the wrist.[24] Despite all of this, Apple is a luxurious brand and it customizes its products for famous people such as Karl Lagerfeld, who has the most expensive all-gold version of the Apple Watch for 25,000 USD. As he once said, he is obsessed by Apple’s devices. For example, he has four iPhones and twenty iPads.[25]

Public Policy

All public policy expenditures are reported to the Apple Board of Directors and reviewed annually by the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board.[26] Recently the Apple Watch was banned at Cabinet meetings in the U.K. due to suspicion that it could be hacked by Russian spies.[27]
